MEN CAN’T SHOW THEIR FACES! A documentary portraits dedicated to those brave men from the distress cities in Syria; Hamat, Dara’a, Halab, Edlib, Baba Amro, Hems, Doma. For those men whom refused to let me take a portrait photos for them, because the Syrian regime may recognize them and go after their families and relatives still in Syria and kill them, and because some of them still have to go back to Syria to do unfinished jobs like bring their relatives out of Syria, bring more money and belongings or to fight against the inhuman Syrian regime.
After I talked to them and explained the importance for their case worldwide to stand up and tell their stories, some of them accepted this solution, to show only their eyes. I can’t blame them because the stories I heard from them of how they escaped from Syria were just unbelievable.
All of us should help Syrian people in any kind of way, they are living a war that until now no positive international move to end it.

* Update: It seems there are a strong and serious movement today on the ground of Damascus against the Syrian regime. Hope it will end soon.
الرجال لايمكنهم إظهار وجوههم! ٠
مجموعة صور فوتوغرافية وثائقية، للرجال الشجعان، من البلد الذي يشهد تطهيرا مذهبيا للسنة، من المدن الأبية: حماة، درعا، حلب، إدلب، بابا عمرو، حمص، دوما.. وغيرها. أولئك الرجال الذين رفضوا أن أصورهم لخوفهم أن يتعرف النظام السوري عليهم ومن ثم يتعرض لأهلهم وأقاربهم الذين لازالوا في داخل سوريا، وأيضا بسبب أنهم لازالوا محتاجين للدخول لأراضي سوريا لجلب مؤنة أو مال أو احتياجات مختلفة، أو لانخراط بعضهم في المقاومة٠
بعد أن تحدثت إليهم وشرحت لهم أهمية ظهورهم الإعلامي، وأن يعرف العالم قصتهم، وافق البعض القليل على هذا الحل، أن أظهر فقط عيونهم وجزء محدود من الوجه. أنا لا ألومهم، خاصة بعد سماعي لقصصهم حين كانوا داخل الأراضي السورية والتطهير الذي تعرضوا له من هدم منازلهم وقتل المدنيين لافرق بين طفل أو عجوز كبير أو شاب عند النظام السوري وشبيحته من القناصة والجيش النظامي٠
هي دعوة لمحاولة مساعدة الشعب السوري كل حسب طاقته وإمكاناته، فالعوز لديهم كبير، وحاجتهم مستمرة نظرا لأنه إلى الآن لايبدو أن هناك تحركا إيجابيا لرفع معاناتهم ومأساتهم٠
تم التقاط هذه الصور في الأردن في مارس ٢٠١٢، في أماكن متعددة للاجئين السوريين٠
* تحديث: يبدو أن الأحداث على أرض سوريا وتحديدا في دمشق تسير في صالح الجيش الحر، ويبدو أنه بعد تفجير اجتماع الأمن القومي العالي المستوى والذي راح ضحيته وزير الدفاع والداخلية ونائب الأركان والعديد من القيادات عالية المستوى سيكون له أثرا كبيرا في تسريع سقوط النظام المجرم في سوريا.

Glad you were able to think on your feet and still walk away with some images that told a story.. perhaps the story is best told with these photographs is better told with just the eye photographs. This story you explained would be a good ethics conversation for photojournalists… as you said, the men were fearful of their images being found and their families punished for it… so when do we as photojournalists draw the line… on the one hand, we want to gain exposure for cruelties/injustices so that they may garner concern and awareness.. but on the other hand, we may be putting someones life at risk by doing so. Sort of a catch 22 at times. Anyway, wonderful post. Thank you for sharing!

I didn’t plan for it since I thought they are far away from Syria, and the world should know their stories! I have another set of photos for families that were able and accept to show their faces, but I was hesitating to show them because of the situation in Syria. However I think now is a good time to show it. It will be a short photojournalism report. Thanks again!
